I just found a hose that comes out of the steering/shifter backet and goes out through the Gimbal housing that the top fitting (up on the steering bracket) has come off..

I cant tell how to get to the other end to take the hose off. Do I have to remove the gimbal housing and if so , how much work is that???

Seems to only squit fluin out when raising it

1975 Tahiti Tropicana with a Merc 120

Thanks For any help

Edit!!!!

Ok here is a pic if I remove the 2 bolts holding on the hose block here will this get me access to this other hose or will fluid start pouring out everywhere

Are these the 2 bolts you where talking about Mark ?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v646/brunowren/Boat/IM000649.jpg

If it's the same as my 1974 140 there is a manifold at the bottom of the gimbal housing on the exterior of the boat. There are 4 lines coming off of it to feed the trim cylinders.
Undo the 2 7/16" nuts on the manifold and you can lower it enough to get at the hose. One is grey and the other is black.

Yep, that's them. Oil will drip out but probably not that much unless you run the pump.
You may need a new gasket depending how it comes off.

Forgot to mention that the hoses are clamped to the inside of the transom approximately behind the starter. The clamp uses 1 Phillips screw. Probably can't see it you will have to feel around for it.
