Hey guys, I have an 05 Yamaha VMax 150 2 stroke. My Trim Gauge is stuck in the up position on an 05 Triton TR186. I looked for a fuse but, couldn't find one, I went to the sensor on the front of the outboard and it does move freely but the gauge doesn't move. There are 3 Tilt/Trim switches on the boat, 1 at the motor, 1 at the remote box (Which is the one I use) and a blinker switch (Which I never use) that I want to get rid of. (But that's going to be another time) Any suggestions?

If the gauge is stuck butt you can still trim up and down, that is electrical, either a bad connection, or a failed component such as the sender or the gauge

Use the trouble shooting steps in the manual

Could be as simple as the sensor ground wire is cut from motor movement, or corroded where it screws to the bracket.
If that checks good just replace the sensor. They do wear out eventually.

Has it ever worked ? If it doesn’t move with manually moving the sensor potentiometer, it’s the gauge or the wiring to it.
Failing that…just do what the old school do..ignore it and look out the back. I’ve got digital trim and analogue indicators…but looking out the back does the best job of them all.
