Float level a little off ? I CAN NOT adjust the mixture that smooth. Runs like a electric trolling motor in that tilted up position. Lower it, slight miss or roughness.

It would be nice to know what engine that we are dealing with. sounds like carb rebuild time. float migth be sticking due to scoring on the needle valve.

I'm not sure if you have a question or are just ranting. More detail is required. Rick.

1993 Evenrude 9.9 with several thousands of hours.

Always starts & runs well. Just happened to notice the change going over a shoal. Does it instantly on tip up & let down. Should it be a slightly high or slightly low float level ?

your float should be level with the carb body when held upside down. When is the last time you serviced the carbs? Also with several thousand, I know that is probably an exaggeration, but you might want to check compression.

Thanks Fireman57.
I rebuilt the carb 2 years ago. Float was level. But I will pull it apart & flush out all the passages with a handpump of gasoline. Going in both directions for each passage way. Have not done that in years. Will also rebuild the fuel pump & filter. Needs a new bulb & hose. getting UV crumbly on surface.

Thanks for waking me up to taking more care of my own motor. Appreciated. :)

Am 73 & fish all summer N Y. 6 to 12 hours a day. For years.

glad to hear that you are still that active! If you get a good carb cleaner and soak it overnight it really loosens everything up and then you can blow it out with compressed air. You shouldn't need to rebuild your fuel pump as the test you did says it is performing properly. Of course if you want to do your part to stimulate the economy then by all means go ahead. Uv crumbly on the surface is every hose on my boat but when I go to cut a piece off to check it the rest underneath is like new. I wish I could fish that much but I'm too busy trying to stay married and get my boat out as often as I can.

I am feeling the years. I always cleaned everything out by just adding 1/2 container of... Seafoam engine cleaner... to the tank.

Do it to the 18' Chevy to.

I am so old, I no longer have a fruit garden. No more, Honey do this or Honey do that. :D
