My problem is this. I have a 1963 Johnson 75ho electromatic. The manual trim release screw turns to the point where it gets harder to turn and that is when the release happens. Problem (and I don't think this is how it should work)is it will still spin past this point. Should the screw not get harder and eventually seat? I do not mean that it gets really hard. I am barely using any force. This is probably why my trim motor turns and does nothing. Does anybody know how this should actaully work? Is this screw stripped?

Thanks Dan

Re: tilt prob?

The 1963 hydraulic unit is not a "Tilt/Trim" unit. It is simply a "Tilt" unit. The manual release valve does not seat such as the later model PTT models.

Rather the manual release on the "Tilt" unit is sealed at one point in its rotaion, and open when turned (I believe) 90° from that point.

Look closely at the area surrounding that screw. There should be a mark indicating the sealed/seating location.
