TILT on volvo troubles..........please help

tilt is non-hydrolic make.<br /> tilt was working then after 1 month in my driveway it was not raiseing all the way and sounded laboured when raising only. checked battery (was fine), all cables checked and fine. leg was 25% up and when tryed to lower it to remove, tilt it stoped working, (im hopeing it just over heated and will work tommorow) the mottor that powers the tilt didnt work at all. now i can,t remove the tilt to service it.<br /> should i try to fabricate something to fit into my drill to stick in the hole to lower the the leg?<br />what should i do next ? ty

What model and year Volvo?<br />Put the shifter in forward (this will disengage the lockdown mechanism) and see if the drive will go up and down easily. IF the tilt bushings get corroded it will be too much for the motor.<br />There should also be a 50A fuse on the main lead going to the lift motor that may have blown.

Possibly got a bent tilt rod. Seen many times, folks will trailer their unit in the up position and the bouncing will cause the tilt rod to bend and not retract or extend fully. Take the weight off the tilt once you get the tilt motor running again to see if it makes a difference.

the model is a 250a /sp volvo penta (aka 151aq)and what do you mean by shifter? i looker again today and the tilt motor is still not working at all, but i can here the click in the electrical box on the tilt when i try to operate it. also the 40amp fuse on my engine block is fine as well. i didnt want run jumpers directly to the tilt motor (to test it) because there are 4 female holes and i dont know wich are ground and didnt want to fry the motor. ty for your help
