I have a 1979 50 HP Blueband 4 cylinder. I just replaced the impellar and gaskets and a cam that was plastic, but is now metal. The motor is on the boat now. I put the tilt lock pin in the center hole of all the holes and dropped the motor down into it's running position. At this position the two hook latches seem to be stuck in a position that does not allow them to lock onto the tilt lock pin. They look like reversed question marks and have a little play in them. They won't raise up so as to engage the pin, but rather are in a locked down position that just allows them to rest on the pin. I can picture giving the motor a little too much gas in reverse and seeing it flying up as it is now. I can't see where I can unlock the two hooks that seem to work in unison that would allow them to engage the pin. This motor is a new additon to my boat and am not that familiar with it.
Thanks for your help.
