I have a 92 Stingray 501 with a 92 Merc 60. The previous owner installed a CMC trim plate and I recently removed it because of limited steering. After installing a new trim pump and motor everything works great. My question is, when I had the old jackplate installed I could lift the motor up manually (I assume this was a feature designed to prevent damage in case of hitting an object). With the new trim motor and pump I am no longer able to manually lift the motor. Will the motor lift up if I hit an underwater object.

Re: Tilt and trim

Not sure of your set up but my 1990 90 Merc has a bleed valve on the side for manual lifting. It looks like a large flathead screw with an access hole through the transom bracket.
