tilt and trim quit

I have an older 85hp Johnson with an electric/hydraulic tilt. I am getting 12v to the solenoid but nothing is happening at the motor. Any way to test the thing or any known common problems? It has a bunble of wires in the top and one at the bottom going into the tilt housing. Was working great last week.

Howdy, gclarke. This one is too complex to do on the board. Go to your marine dealer and get the Clymer manual, #B736. Many automotive stores would have it, or you can check it out at your local library. There is a good section on TnT, including wiring and hydraulic diagrams.<br /><br />Good luck. JB

Hi G,<br />As J.B. says "manual" as the brushes are probably bad and the comutator on the armature should be groved by now (age).<br />It it is a total you can get rebuilt pump motors for it yet.<br /><br />...have fun...corm
