tilt and trim problem

I have a '94 Merc 115 on an 18' Searay center console. It has been sitting for 2 yrs. The tilt and trim pump is not working. The motor runs, but no lift. Backing out the manual lift screw does not allow manual lifting unless the screw is taken all the way out. I drained and refilled the hydraulic oil. Still nothing.<br />Seems like a valve is stuck. Removing the pump looks like lots of work. Is there a quick and dirty way to get this working?

Re: tilt and trim problem

Well, assuming you can hear the electric motor turning, you might have air in the system. To bleed the system, fill the reservoir up, then put the plug in and try to lower it. Then, raise it up, manually, or if it will help you, all the way up. Just let it set for an hour or so, and the air will work it's way out. Also, there is a screw going into the side, right from the back. It should be a yellow, or black plastic one. The black one has o rings that will go bad, and the yellow one is molded, but can get broken under pressure. This screw, if it's seals are bad, or it is broken, won't allow you to build pressure to push up or down. You never actually told if the electric motor was spinning or not. I have 2 of these motors, so if you get back to me, we can work this out. Good Luck
