tilt and trim johnson 70 hp 1976

My tilt and tirm is old and dosen't work. I want to replace it. I was wondering if I baught a new tilt and trim dose it matter if I get a bigger hp limit and a newer model than my 70hp 1976? Oh what would be the cheapest way to go?
