1983 75hp chrysler that has the walbro type carbs (per seloc manual)....anyone have any knowledge of these carbs? had the tillotson on my 55hp but have yet to speak to anyone who has the walbro or read anywhere if this is a good carb and all the websites seem to only list the rebuild kit for the tillotson....thanks...and while I'm at it a link below was talking about impellers and it is confusing as the 83' uses the 3085(like 10 fins) and it sounded like you could use the 6 fin impeller, save some cash and get better flow? is this true? thanks :D

Re: tillotson or walbro? and impeller question

The 10 fin will prime the pump better. However, most boats sit low in the water at rest and priming the pump isn't problematic because it's underwater. On boats where the pump would sit close to or above the water when at rest benefit most from the 10-vane. But vanes take-up space, so a pump with fewer vanes will pump more water because the space that would've been taken-up by additional vanes now has water there instead.

Walbro and Tillotson both make fine carbs. In alot of cases, you can't tell them apart by just glancing at them. If you get a kit from a Merc dealer, you'll get the correct one (unless somebody played "Musical Carbs" with that motor).
