Tiller handle cross reference help

I have a '73 Evinrude 6hp 6302. Tiller handle is missing parts. Gear shaft slides forward loosing contact with main gear. Spring and plate missing.
Found a tiller on ebay but it is 6402. ('64 model?)
Our online parts reference only goes back to '68.

Need to know if they are the same tiller.

6402 should be a 1974 6 HP Evinrude, more than likely would work with a 1973, I'm sure someone will know.
