Tiller handle crack behind throttle twist grip

I run a 9.9 on my sailboat. It seems when I tilted the motor up I may have cracked the tiller arm, right behind the throttle twist. Is this part replaceable or repairable? I have some marine adhesive curing on it at the moment and will check it tomorrow. Any ideas? Thanks....

welcome to iboats, year and model # of motor, please. mosly likely it can be replaced.

It is certainly replaceable. It can be repaired by welding. If its not too bad then drill a small hole on either end of the crack to stop it from spreading and don't worry about it. If its really bad, don't trust epoxy to fix it. It will probably fail and that could have catastrophic results.

I got a real nice used replacement for a 25 that got burned off from Tim's Outboard. Reasonable! 218 682 2331

1997 saildrive, JSELECC I think is the model number. Found a source for parts, $55.00 for what they called a Steering Arm. The guy said it isn't hard to replace as long as I have a photographic memory...hmmmmm.

The crack has traveled all the way, and I have removed 90% of the arm. Easy enough. How do I remove the throttle grip assembly off of the remaining steering arm?
