so i went and bought a motor for 500 and he started the motor for me for like 2 secs so i said i will take it now i went to install the motor and got it all hooked up and like oil or something was coming out og the muffler. so it was lunch time and like 15 mins later i was going to start the motor and it would turn then stop so my bro in law said dont start it and take the spark plugs out, when we did water and gas was just coming out of the holes and i mean alot. took the head out and there was water so my bro said i need new piston rings cuz the piston had some play on the rings but not like omg i need a new top end... now my ? is there is alot of piston rings size should i just get the standerd size? also how to i know what size i need is there a tool to check it? sorry about the long post...... oh lol sorry or should i just ask for my money back???? sorry paid 550 not 500

Getting your money back is between you and who you bought the motor from, new, you should be able to get a new one, used, you are propably sol.

You can measure the diameter of the pistons and use a bore gauge to measure the cyclinder. That will tell you how much larger your piston and rings need to be. I don't now off hand what the gap between the cyclinder and the piston needs to be. Maybe some one else can add that info.

regardless of the piston ring issue, if you are getting water/fuel/oil into the engine, then you have something else going on besides play in your pistons. the "oil" out the muffler could just be nasty water.

reading your post, it sounds like you started the ski on the hose? If so, did you turn the hose on first or start the motor first, and how high did you turn the water on? When you shut it down, did you turn the water off first or after the engine had stopped?

Reason I ask is because you should never turn the water on more than if you were to drink out of the hose. Also, you should start the motor first, then put the hose on...when you're going to shut it down, turn the hose off first, then the motor. Failing to do any of that can cause water to get into the cylinders.

yes i use the hose and i do start the motor then the water but when i turn the motor off i do it the same time motor and water or motor first. i dont think the motor even take oil, someone told me the hole motor cools off by water??? my bro in law took the motor apart and he said the rings has alot of play from side to side and one of the rings is ok i think..... what i mean by water and gas mixing is i had the gas on and wile craking the motor the carbs was shotting gas in the cyl so thats why it was gas and water so when i turn off the gas it was just water... now just thinking about it i started up the motor and it was fine but my brother left the water running like a strem maybe that filled the motor and exhust with water i really dont know cuz that the only time it happend

i want to know that the piston rings feels lose so does it mean i need rings? also the pistons does not say the name of them but it only says 0.25 so if i was going to replace the rings do i just get a 0.25 rings? the walls and piston looks good so should i just go with the new rings and last ? does the motor take any oil like motor oil? cuz when i open the motor up i did not see any oil in the motor.........
