1st time out 87 Wellcraft with 5.7 260hp Mercruiser and Alpha 1. TB IV ignition.

Ran well until ignition breaker popped. Got towed in by Ranger...

Found temp gauge had shorted out and it was attached to a purple wire off of key and it also runs to + on coil.

With gauge bypassed no more breaker issues but still won't spark.

I read ignition guides.

I do have 12v at (+) on coil. No ground at (-) on coil with key on so, spark should be forced out of post to distributor.

Thunderbolt has 12v on red and white wire to distributor. Not sure on what to ck next?

Ohm tested coil and have 2.2 ohm between (+) and (-) coils and 7.0k between (+) and center post.

Ok, striking white and green lead from lead to ground (engine bolt) I do get spark from coil.

Just want to make sure the diagram didn't imply ground post on distributor...

Looks like I need an ignition sensor instead of a module whheeeww.
