Hey folks. I purchased all 3 new livewell thru hull fittings for my bassboat today and when I got home I noticed they said "not for below water line". These will obviously be below the waterline. I'm wondering if it really matters or if that's a "lawyer disclaimer". My boat is trailered and not slipped so it wont stay in all the time. One of them is a Perko and the other 2 are attwood. I'd be putting them in with 5200. Should I run em or return them for ones rated for below water line? What's the difference. Thanks!

Plastic or brass? Standard white plastic thru hulls are for above the water line use. Anything below the water line should be brass, threaded, 5200 installed, and come with a 1/4 turn seacock shutoff. Plastic fittings below the waterline will become brittle and crack.

I would agree with Fireman except that you can use Marelon fittings and seacocks below the water line.
