I have a 2003 200 bow rider searay with a 5.0 260hp motor with a alpha one drive i belive generation three. I would ike to put through hull exaust on it. Is it possible? Sea ray will not do it anymore at the delership. I would like to do this myself if this possible? The dealership want 1000.0 dollars to do this i think this is way out of line? I am also concidering headers like Basset I like the nice rumble sound but i dont want it obnoxiously loud so would headers be to loud? thanks im a first time poster.

I would recommend a choice style system. With this type system you can choose to have the exhaust go out through the hull or through the hub. Check out this web page.

I'm with Reel Poor on this one. Headers and loud exhaust are fun and a real rush....... at times, however they can get old real quick and even be annoying at times......go with a "choice" system.

With through hull exhaust you have alot of choices . You can go straight exhaust, which is louder, but you still get some silencing from the cooling water which is pumped in just after the riser. Not much mind you, but some. The drawback is that the exhaust note could be a little loud for what you want, especially if you have other people on board, and are trying to have a conversation. With this setup, you also could annoy other fellow boaters, when coming into a marina or mooring, who are lounging about on there boats trying to enjoy some relaxation and peace and quiet.

The other option is to fit mufflers on the exhaust. This takes the harsh edge off of the exhaust sound and actually produces a more mellow tone. Thee are a number of producers of marine mufflers out there. Here's one,

The amount of silencing is up to you, or just go through the hub. Personally, I love the sound of through hull. If its set up and installed correctly, you can still get that sweet rumble without pissing people off

How about thru-hull on an OMC Stringer? Ever hear of that?? The dilemma arises from the fact that the engine is lifted and lowered to trim the boat. I have thought about it but can't get past how this would work. I have noticed they do have exhaust tips that go through a rubber jacket, so the pipes could move up or down when the engine raises and lowers. Still debating...
