I finally found a set of carbs after a year of looking and the motor is running great in the driveway. I am having a problem with the timing tower returning back to the throttler stop screw, it is staying off the motor causing high idle unless i push it with my hand. Do i need to preload the throttle cable and if so how much backpressure should it have against the stud on the tower linkage. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

thanks

Re: Throttle stop screw

Yes preload.Just enough to pull it back to the stop.
They make 2 kinds of couplers.1 has a spring in it already to help pre-load.The other you just have to pull on it.Actuall you need to pull on them both anyway.J

Re: Throttle stop screw

Thanks j, my problem was in the cables i ordered two new ones and picked one up today. I can move the cable easily with it coiled up in the box , i cannot wait to get them on so i can have a smooth operating throttle. thanks
