Throttle, Shifter and Steering Cable replacements for 1974 Chrysler Conqueror?

Looking for recommendations as to replacements for the steering cable and possibly the throttle and shifter cables? Motor is Chrysler 4 cyl (130hp?). Boat is 17ft. Current cables work but seem "spongy" and definitely old, possibly original. Plastic casings flaking off... The Boating Magazine Glastron CVX restoration used a SeaStar SS151 rack and pinion assembly. Has anyone used this? Is an entire steering system necessary or just the cables?
Thank you!

Usually just the cables are needed.
On one end or the other on all the cables(shift/throttle/steering) the length is engraved on it somewhere.
Some cables have it in inches some in feet.
The shift/ throttle are probably a Morse 3300 Red Jacket or equilevent.

The steering cable needs to the same length as they only fit a certain length.
The shift cable can be longer but not shorter.

The rack and pinion is a good setup. Just make sure you get the length right.
