Throttle Friction

Hey all, new to the forum and need some help. I have a 1967 Johnson CD-24D 6HP
The motor runs great, everything works as it should BUT the throttle does not want to
stay put. At idle, if I take my hand off the the throttle the motor slows and dies.
If we're crusin' and I take my hand off, it slows down.
Is there a throttle friction screw that I missed somewhere?
Is there any way to put some friction in this so it will stay put where I want it?
Thanks,
Ken

Remove the handle grip.----Is the plastic friction piece in the handle ?----Coils replaced and rubbing on the flywheel ?

What Racerone said. If the coils are rubbing on the flywheel, the throttle will want to move of its own accord. Inside the tiller handle there is a spring and cup assembly that adds friction to the system. If the spring and/or cup are missing, then the throttle won't stay put.

Also make sure that spring and cup in the handle doesn't have a bunch of grease on it.
