Throttle friction adjustment

New boat for me. Currently 700 miles away so I can't just go explore it for an answer.

2000 Crownline 180BR with a VP 4.3 GL.

Shifting into gear seems appropriate. However, the throttle is much too sticky. Takes more force to move it than it should, both increasing and decreasing speed. How do I adjust the throttle arm friction so it moves smoothly and easily.

Thanks.

More than likely,.....You'll need to Replace the Cable,.......

I Don't Believe there IS a Friction Adjustment to be made........

Re: Throttle friction adjustment

Conflicting info everywhere. I'm gonna go visit the local VP authorized center and see what diagrams they may have of the control unit.

I posted the same question on the Crownline site. Some say there isn't an adjustment. Others say there is. One guy in particular said he investigated last weekend and there is an adjustment screw at about 2:00 inside the control box. Of course, all I have to look at right now is a photo of the throttle control and I can't figure out from that how you get inside the control box to investigate.
