Do I have to find a throttle control box made specifically for my 1971 Johnson 100 HP which says Hydro-Electric Drive or do they make aftermarket throttle controls and if they do what is a good place to get them and what kind to use, there are so many different styles.

Re: Throttle control

That one dosn't look anything like the one I need, but thank you for letting me know that i need one specific for my motor. The only thing that sucks if you buy a used one you will probably have the same problems with the rust inside the dang thing.

Re: Throttle control

hello
with the hydro-electric you have 2 options. the single lever box by johnson or the pushbutton box by evinrude. the hydro-electric was used for 4 years and will NOT interchange with the older electric shift boxes. the switches are wired differently. but yes virginia the only box you can use is the one for hydroelectric. I think the pushbutton switch is NLA so be careful which box you buy.
good luck and keep posting
