Yesterday when I got to the lake with family to do some fishing I found the throttle lever was hanging. Looking closer the bolt on the inside appears to have broken. I am not sure the best way to go about repairing it. Does the bolt start on the outside and go in or do I need to take the whole thing off? Attached are some pictures. This is on a 1989 Crestliner V170 with a 115 Evinrude.

Undo the 2 long screws that attach the controller to the hull then pull controller forward and you will probably find the hex head screw still in the back of the controller. If its not broken just put the handle back on and do the screw up.

Re: Throttle Control Repair

Unfortunately the bolt broke in half. I am going to pick up and easy out tonight and then see if I can find a replacement bolt at the store this weekend once I know the full size I need.

hmmm never seen one break but its not bottomed out when installed so it should be fairly easy to remove. The normal complaint is that the handle will not come off after the bolt is removed.

Re: Throttle Control Repair

image.jpg was able to drill out the remaining bolt and pull it with the easy out. Luckily I found a bolt at the hardware store to replace and am good to go!
