I have a 1964 Evinrude Lark IV (40472R E01950)electric shift outboard.

The Control cable (12 foot)has gotten pretty stiff and there is quite a bit of resistance when advancing the throttle.

I have disconnected the cable from the linkage and it is still hard to advance it. I have ruled out the control box and outboard as sources of the problem.

Can anybody tell me a manufacturer and part number for a replacement cable?

Thanks,
Mike

The cable itself is fairly standard issue. Should be able to get one right at your local dealer for between $20 and $30.... Make sure you get the "old style" for pre-1980 control boxes... Save your cable ends and re-use them on the new cable.
- Scott

There's the rub, even though my location is listed as Portland, Oregon, I am quite a ways away from any evinrude dealership.

I will have to order this from a catalog and need to know exactly what to order.

Can anyone supply a part number?

Mike

If there are any marine store around, you can probably take it with you and get a replacement.

Thought I had a couple of those old type cables left over in stock, but unfortunately both of them are 15 footers.
