Throttle cable problem

I have a1977 johnson35 horse outboard that I am trying to connect some cables to. Shift cable works fine and throttle cable works fine until I connect it to the engine. Linkage works fine. Any ideas why the cable will not move when connected

You are missing a piece. There is a piece that grabs that barrel fitting and holds it in place to work.

Call a dealer and ask for Johnson Evinrude OMC Control Cable "C" Clamps for your year motor
