Threads on End of Dip Stick Tube??

The tube that holds my dipstick on my 99 4.3L Mercruiser appears to have threads on the top. Are these threads for attaching some kind of pump to pull the oil out of the crankcase for an oil change? If so, where do I find an adapter that screws on to it?

Exactly. Those threads are designed to fit this style pump for pumping out the engine oil:

There is no need for an adapter as the pump comes with the same thread type to screw right on to the dipstick tube.
