I have just purchased this boat only to find all water drains missing and was told bad gimball bearing. After rebuilding the carb and ignition and all new water drains plugged ran good until the other day . I have found while running the engine on the hose that the plug under the medallion has dropped in and that the screw from hell is still there as well as the fastener behind it. I can not find any parts for repair in the omc parts diagram . Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Those parts for some reason do not show up in the diagrams till the later years of the original Cobra....

take a look at this, parts #s 9-14 is what you need, looks like you can still get em...the main thing about this is that it is a water passage that should not leak water to the outside or you will loose water pressure/volume to the cooling system.

For those with a Cobra and sharp eyes, there is actually a mistake in these diagrams, the plug et all actually goes on the opposite side from what the pic shows but the parts are all correct.

Thanks for the link, you are right all of the diagrams i look up for 1989 omc 4.3 do not show those parts . Actually I need #11, it cracked while I was running it in the driveway and started blowing water out. The rest of the assembly fell into the upper gear housing #'s 12-14 with o/rings. You can see them inside and hold them with a magnet, it appears someone glued them in there with silicon . Once again thanks for the help I have found so many rigged fixes on this boat it is killing me .
