I have a 95 bayliner 2050 ss original 5.0 swapped for a 355 chevy and an alpha one. Guys who built it claim it has forged rods and pistons, bored over, and a mild cam. All i know for sure is that it has an edlebrock intake and 4 barrel carb. So here's my q, it originally had a 15.5 x 19p ss prop and i could spin it about 5300 rpms (way to high i know) also with that prop (and 2 adults & 3 young kids) when it would hit 4k rpms, ne more throttle and it would bog down for a sec then rip wide open and run like 50 @ over 5k rpm. There was no in between either 35mph or 50 something. So i changed it to a 14.25 x 21p aluminum and it runs great thru the whole rpm range (no bog unless i hit it hard) and i didn't lose any top end but i can still spin it to 5000 or a little higher playing with the trim. Would i have any benefit going to a 23p? We tube and ski but it has plenty of power to pull both w both props and honestly im happy with the hole shot on both i want a higher cruising speed and more top end when i want it!
Notes
- Normal load 2 adults and 120lbs of kids, half tank of gas
- Guy who built motor est it makes 325 hp......any thoughts on that?
