What is a good rod, reel combo and what do you suggest for line, leader and end tackle for Gulf kingfishing?<br />-Lou

are you using a boat for the king fishing?<br />If So, I like trolling with a # 5 Silver Spoon with a 4 foot 60 lb steel leader with a 10 foot section of 80 lb mono.line to the plainer. the rods I use are Sam Scotts 6 foot HD.. with penn's 4 ots.. using 50 lb test on the reel<br /><br /> gl<br /> highandry<br /><br /> HOLY DIVER

I like a Penn 350M on a medium action 6' rod. Use 30lb test and have never had a line break. Also use a short 12-18" wire leader to decrease visibility of terminal gear. As bad as kings are to srike short, leader length has never been a problem. Fish with live bait [pinfish, croakers] and cigar minnows. Seems like they will always take one or the other.
