Those with MPIs what do you do with your leftover storage gas mix?

First winter with an MPI (Merc 4.5), old boat was carb’d. Curious what you all do with the left over gas storage/fogging mix?

Starting in September I add stabil to what's in the tank, and then an appropriate amount for each subsequent tank full. I always add gas at the end of a trip, so my tank is always 95% full.

When winterizing day comes in late October I have nothing needed to do with the gas. Simply change the engine oil, outdrive oil etc. Been doing this for many many years.

Next year, first time out, I click the starter switch, and......zooooom she's running.

Easy peasy.

If you mixed the 2-stroke oil at 50:1, run it in the blower or string trimmer

If you mixed at 32:1, run it in your chainsaw

Hah, I did the extreme winter prep on the 4.5L but I'm not sure it helped for all the work it takes. If you follow the manual, it says to mix up several gallons of this fuel/oil cocktail and you end up with a whole bunch of extra. Lesson learned; all you need is a couple quarts / litres.
Dump the excess in anything that burns gas, yard equipment, the boat's main fuel tank. Even adding it in the truck on a full tank isn't going to hurt anything.

I have the 6.2L versions, similar to the new 4.5L. The fogging mix is about 10:1 as specified in the manual, IIRC.

Since I don't like disconnecting the fuel line to run the fogging mix from an Aux tank, I empty the main fuel tank and add about 5-10 gallons of the 10:1 fogging mix then run the engines to fog. In the spring, I add more gasoline to the tank, just to cut the oil concentration back and then run the boat/add fuel as usual.

If you are running an auxiliary tank for fogging, no harm in using it as you see fit . . . add it back to the tank if you've got some fuel in there, or reduce the concentration so as to run in 2-cycle engines, etc.

Hi. I perform the procedure by running the fuel tank integral to the boat, as low as possible (using smartcraft or VesselView)…the I put a can of the mix into the tank…enough to get me back to the slipway…also means that the little there left in there is keeping things pretty decent too. Also like that the engine is started up a little oily and rich, come next season start up
