What is your fuel burn?

I have a 2003 175 on a fairly light 21' CC and getting around 12-14gph around 3800-4000 rpm. Best I have seen is 2.4mpg, but usually get closer to 2.2 or so at cruise.

I have a carb'd 150 2 stroke on the flats boat. At 2500 I see between 5.6 and 5.9 gph at 26-27 mph.

2500, I am doing about 10mph,lol.

Why are these things so damn thirsty?

Any way to make them more fuel efficient :p

It all has to do with drag or wetted surface. Weight is important but hull design is way more important. Not that long ago 1 mpg was thought to be pretty good. Carb motors are, by nature of the electronics, going to use more fuel than an EFI or a DFI.
