Living in Missouri we can still buy fireworks with no problem and setting them off on my farm is not a legal issue. Because of that we usually have lots of out of state friends and family come for the fourth and collectively it's a pretty good display. The down side, little pieces of paper and the sticks from rockets coving the entire area.

So this year I'm making a "new rule" for everyone and letting them know now. If you want to set off fire works great, but you have to stay and help clean the yard the next day. The responses have been all over the board.

I didn't know you cleaned all that up, I thought it just sort of disintegrated on it's own.

Maybe we'll skip coming this year and just see the local towns display.

Sure we'll help, no problem.

I really didn't think it was an outlandish request but I think our crowd will be a lot smaller this year.

Well maybe on the bright side you won't have that guy who shows up with something unsafe and insane, then he says the famous last words like "hey ya'll watch this".

I really hope the responses didn't surprise you.

Happens every time you make people responsible for their actions.

More beans 'n brats for you this year. :)

I agree with both of the above posters and I will add I certainly think it was an an entirely reasonable action.
