Oil should not be passing into the flame arrester, this pipe is the engine breather pipe, sounds like it needs a compression test, and a decoke. This would also explain why you have a problem with carbs, oil blocking arrester,or air flow been starved, causing engine to run rich.if engine fumes build up inside engine cover,is will also starve carbs of air, especially at high revs.

Yea thats what I was thinking maybe the flame arestor is getting clogged and stopping air flow hmmmmmmm where is the oil coming from? compression is fine 136 136 135 136 how and what is dechoke? i wonder why all of a sudden oil is splattering out of that hose? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm maybe dirty flame arstr is causing more suction it turn pulling the oil ? sound possible? i didnt clean the flame arrestor duh!!!! well ill; let you know in the next few days any thoughts welcome by thye way the oil is more around the carbnot really thanks again in the carb

Compression can look good and you still may have lots of "blow by". Only way to check is with a cylinder leak down test. In other words-how long will it hold compression in a cylinder.

The oil control rings may just be "coked" up.

Go to your GM dealer and get some "GM Top Engine Cleaner".

One more thing. Make sure your breather is not clogged up.

I can't believe i didn't think to clean it. well could this cause the carb to pull oil through the breather tube? any way what is decoke? is it easy to do? well I hope to put the impeller in tomorrow and get the thing in the water Ill let you know. by the way i pulled the plugs and guess what... yep black. cleaned gapped and put back in. Cheshire, you changed the oil recently? A little wetness around the breather hose is normal...

Cheshire,

The Top Engine Cleaner is easy to use, just follow the directions on the can. It basically gets run through the engine and then you let it sit and do it's work. You then fire it up and let it clear out.

Tip. If you're going to do this in your driveway, do it on a Wednesday morning when no one is around. You will make LOT'S of smoke!!

Keep that breather clean!
