This is a question aabout an 80's variety 4 cylinder Merc engine.

This is from a friend of a friend. I do not know what the exact engine is. Does anyone know of a left hand threaded plug in the side of the engine block? It was obviously not intended as a drain point.

In an attempt to drain the block, this person screwed this plug INTO the block and lost it in the water jacket. It was apparently a Torx type plug.

Sounds like a core plug. I hope at least he wasn't winterizing a 3.7l like that :facepalm:

I'm thinkin' Mike has it right, 'n yer bud's bud has abit of an issue to deal with over winter...
