I was afraid to post this on the diving board....there is only 2 posts on it...i'd be waiting forever.<br /><br />Does anyone know how to build a thrid lung setup for shallow diving.<br /><br />It would be nice for scallops and spearing some snappers (hog)?<br /><br />Heck....it would just be fun to use.<br /><br />Lots of stuff to see in the gulf round here.<br /><br />Shadywood.

Derwood I wish I could help but all I can suggest is try snorkling. My nephew got to the point where he could pull 3 min under and I used to be able to work 2. Old age and injury had me much out of shape and I doubt he could hold his as long as well but I bet he could still work 2. It would be better than nothing. I believe one time I saw some online sites that had a pump kind of like the old fasioned divers used that were gas or electric powered and had a 50' hose that were not too expensive if working up your own lung power does not appeal to you. You may want to try a search.

you know i dont know a thing about that, but i thought if i wanted to spend time underwater without a sub or cave, then i'd go to the dentist and pickup some nitrous oxide. i think you can hold your breath longer with a smile...

derwood,<br /><br />Some of the old shellers (fresh watermussel clam fisherman) would use a resperator and some kind of air compressor. They would hook a hose to the resperator and dive to the mussel beds.<br />Some would even use a large pot and put it on there head and put a hose in it and let the air pressure push the water out of the pot upside down with there head in it to breath. No sight this way - as if you could see in the water in the lower white river. Very shadey - You would'nt catch me doing that.

Yeah like the old Johnson Air-Bouy. It was a 2 cycle motor that pumped air down a pair of 25' hoses. The whole rig floated in an innertube. You have to find a strong enough pump to provide you with adaquate air at 25'. Sounds like a good project. <br /><br />Bob
