I have an opportunity that looks mighty tempting to me. I have stumbled upon a 1959 17ft Aristo-Craft Fun-liner. It has a 1962 Evinrude 75hp with a 1958 Dilly trailer. I have spoken at length with the owner and he tells me the floors and transom are very solid and that this boat has always been garage kept. He tells me the motor is a strong runner and that the trailer has new tires, lights, winch etc. Boat was last in the water in 2008. All he "says" it needs is a battery(I have one), and a gas can. He claims it is water ready.

All that being said, I think I can buy the boat/motor/trailer for $400. He has the paperwork for boat and trailer as well. What do you think???

I plan on running the motor and doing a compression test.

Any input greatly appreciated....Joe

cool boat. a running hardtop for 400 seems cheap, go for it.

Too bad it's in Vermont. If it was closer, I'd already own it. Nice find!

Nice boat. Since the owner has told you all of this, have you gone in person and checked it out?

EVen if there are problems with that boat, it's definately worth the $400.:D

Gentlemen, I am proud to report that I am now the new owner of this beauty. It has had one owner since '75 and only one owner prior. It is in great shape with only a couple of tiny chips in the finish. Everything works, seats are in good condition. The '62 Evinrude V4 Starfire runs like a champ. It had $350 worth of service done last year. There is a ton of paperwork, service bills, owners manuals etc.

Even the plexiglas sliding windows are there. The trailer has a new winch, rollers, wheels, tires, lights. The hull design makes this boat HUGE inside. One of the other selling factors for me, is that Aristo Craft has no wood below the deck. Fiberglass, stringers and all.

It is funny that I went from no boats to two boats in less than two weeks.
