It makes me a little teary-eyed even to say that... But I was considering it. Even though it's the wrong time of year.
Any who've followed my posts know my boat - it's original, well-worn cosmetically, has the OMC shift issue even after my somewhat educated efforts at fixing it (stiff to get out of Fwd especially), and I love it.
We hit the lake Wednesday after SEVERAL weeks off, and the boat ran great. I know it's stiff to get out of Fwd though, so I never even did it. Just killed it and pulled back to N, even at the dock (it was a low wind day, which is why we were there). I'm no weakling, and I find it stiff, so I'm not sure how the average Joe would perceive it.
We had a good time yesterday. I'm not sure it's worth what the boat may bring though. I'll make a full disclosure (even if it's not completely wise): I paid $4,500 for it in 2018. I've got over $6,000 in it now, most of which was a new exhaust system. I was thinking of floating a $3,500 asking price, with little room for neg.
Would I regret it if it sold? I don't need the $ right now per se, but it'd be nice. I've wondered just a little about my job, at a company where I've been for 20yrs+, due to pandemic issues, and potential mandates related to that. And I had a couple of scares in the lake last year that have altered my mentality about it so...
Boats was the last thing for me that I hadn't done (I care nothing for "Space") as I'd done semi-fast cars, motorcycles, and airplanes all before I got this. I had "boat" in the back of my mind though, from years back (as I did "motorcycle" before I finally pulled the trigger on that at 27YOA and did for 20 years afterward). Now I've done boat too, and I wonder just a little if I'd regret selling this one. In a way it feels like "mine". Like no one else'll be able to make it work like I have. I don't think my kids will. But several thousands of $, potentially is something to give some thought to.
What do y'all think? I ask, and even as I do, I feel like I'm not going to actually put this for sale, but...
