I am going to be going out on Canadaigua for the 4th and I am hoping it will be a little less crazy it is in the middle of the week. I went on Keuka last year and it wasn't bad at all. Do you guys think it will be packed?

I would imagine it will be busy everywhere. Sure, not as busy as when the 4th falls on a Friday, but gas prices are lowering and people will be looking for an excuse to get out on the water.

I went out last year for the 4th of July. I waited over an hour at the ramp to retrieve my boat at a free ramp.... I'll never do that again! If I had a slip I'd be on the water, but to me it's just not worth the the aggravation.

I was driving around and went by one of our more popular free ramps Saturday morning 9:30 perfect weather so I expected to see the mess we hear about here.

About 50-75 vehicles with trailers in the parking lot all parked properly and squared away.

No one blocking the two ramps. One guy off to the side working on a jon boat. One waterman tied off to the side of a dock (he's allowed). No one on the side beach. No lines, no traffic, no delays. Lots of room left. No one fishing, swimming or sunning.

This is not a bad place to be, for boaters.

I went boating in Norfolk once, I caught the crabs and the girl that went out with me came back with a big Red Snapper.

Sure. Lots of dummies and drunks here. I was actually behind a trailered ski boat on the way to my slip this weekend on a 4 lane. He had the boat packed with floats. I passed him on the right. The next truck followed. A float blew out right in front of him. I literally saw the tire buckle as he swerved. Luckily, he didn't crash due to the negligence of the boater.

So, yes, the lake here will be packed with dummies and drunks. Since I'm a novice, I'll watch from the slip.

i have found that this year the # of boats out on the water has been WAY down. Quagga Mussel inspections seems to have had a real negative impact on the lakes patronage. I enjoy it, but I know it can't be good for the state!

Dear Mods: it is obvious that the constant pop-ups have made everyone here crazy and they have lost all sense of propriety and dignity.
