XR 6 150HP 0G826606 Power Trim Relay Down Bad Up Relay OK

Power Trim either by Throttle handle or side access intermittently works
when lowering engine. Tilt up is fine. There are two relays on the back side
of engine. The one on the right can hear relay clicking (trim down sometimes works),
left side for tilt up (OK).

Certainly appears a new relay switch should fix. However, very difficult to find a company
mfg and proper part number to order new one, Appreciate any help

Tim up is fine but, down is intermittent. Appears Two relay switches on back side of engine are
activated when either motor side access or throttle trim buttons used.

Right side unit just clicks when down is tried (no trim down). Can feel left side activated for up which is fine

Can anyone help on company/mfg to order correct part. Serial 0G826606

I have no idea how your relays are wired, but if you are hearing clicks, that doesn't mean the relay is working properly. That clicking noise only means the relay is energizing. But if the contacts are burnt and toast, it won't pass the current needed to operate the motor for the trim system. You need to verify voltage is passing the through the relays to the motor. JMHO

It could also be the other solenoid. The one that clicks connects to power but the one that is inactive has to make a connection to ground for the motor to run. The good news is that both solenoids are the same part. So if one doesn't fix the problem you can always switch it to the other one. However check the harness connectors for any sign of melting first (a sign of a poor connection to the solenoid).
You need a Sierra solenoid part #18-5849 http://www.iboats.com/Sierra-18-584...5619099--session_id.891757215--view_id.870207 which replaces Mercury part #828151A1.

Just swap the 2 relays and see if the motor will go down.

Please clarify, the nut on the bolt is Not intended to be taken off. Possibly loosened but, to remove the relay,

the entire relay housing and metal backing plate (u slot) is to be pulled off the bolt.If the rubber bushings wanted to

be replaced how would the nut backed away off the bolt. Regards

Please disregard previous message. Was able to access and find the bolt head to get the nut off and
the relay.

Actually I've had better luck with Sierra relays than the mercury ones. But I'm sure someone else has had the opposite experience.

The up relay could be causing the down to not function. The down feeds power through the up relay NC contact and vice versa. This prevents both from being activated at the same time.
