As we all know a boat is always a work in progress. The past 2 weeks I managed to get some of my needed chores done. I am getting closer to taking her out on my first trip of the season.

The first task I had to do was to refinish all the exterior wood. I think it looks pretty good and definitely much better than before it was done.

Then I removed the old nonworking GPS.

Then I installed the new GPS. I love the detailing of the charts. Much better than the old G-chart chips from my previous GPS. It even includes Canadian areas.

The week before last I installed my new VHF radio. It has AIS and some other nice features.

This week I will install a new VHF antenna. New radio, new antenna as I do not know how old the current antenna is. Then I will be ready to head out.

What did you use on the wood. I redid my hatch a couple years ago but she spent time ouside last year while in and out of the shop and on the top whereit is plywood it has completely cracked and peeled. I uhsed helmsman which i thought was the product for the job but apparenly not. Interesting it only peeled on the plywood parts, the solid wood parts are fine.

I used Sikkins Cetol Marine Light. I like how it looks. Now I will see how well it holds up.
