Thickness gauge of battery cable

I have a 2009 Nissan Marine 15 hp model NSF15C that the battery cable has gotten super stiff on the first two feet or so of the cable towards the battery. I'd like to cut the stiff cable off and get some new battery connectors but do not know the thickness of the battery cable. Anyone know the gauge of the cable?

One option, if you plan on buying the new ends locally, would be to cut off one end and take it with you. Should be no trouble to match!

The outer plastic casing has gotten stiff?....but the copper inside is still just fine....what is the problem?

No, it feels as if the copper has gotten stiff. Have no idea why. You can bend it up and soften it but I don't know what's going on inside the casing. So I'm just gonna whack off a couple of feet and pitch the stiff and put on new connectors. Thanks 211libwtfo for the info.
