Re: Thermostat

yup, the thermostat monitors the engine temp, if it gets too hot it lets you know by sounding of the buzzer or warning lights 'depends on what you have'. i would not think of running my motor without it.

Re: Thermostat

Karayj<br />To start with I think you would get better responce in the I/o section. The thermostat has nothing to with sounding the over temp alarm, that function is done by the temperature sensor.<br /><br />You do need to put in a good thermostat, it function is to get the motor up to the normal operating temperature and keep it there. With fuel prices today it will pay for it self very fast. I forgot to see where you live but most areas in spring at least water temperature down to 50 degrees. You motor is designed and tuned to run around 150 degrees. This means the carburetor jets are set to run best at 150 degrees. Even in the middle of summer water temp probably not over 80 degrees and that still way too cold for your engine to run right. Also with out a thermostat your engine is constantly heating up when you run fast and cooling down when slow down and that is not good for anything. All engines get some water in oil when cold but when motor heats up oil temp gets hot enough to turn the water into and steam so water can get out thru the crank case vents. Put in a good one it will save you fuel, make your engine run better, and make your engine run longer and wear less.
