Okay folks here goes. What is the purpose of the stat in my 87 125 Force? If I'm constantly running cooling freshwater through the motor isn't cooler better.

Re: Thermostat

It helps the motor reach optimal operating temperature and then maintain it.

Re: Thermostat

The engines will run poorly if too cool.

They are also less efficient and do not burn the fuel properly.

TMD

Re: Thermostat

tom,
If you take your thermostat out you chance the motor having a cold seize. What happens is your pistons expand and then the cold water running around your cylinders wont let them expand. What you end up with not enough clearance between your cylinders and your pistons. Causing the pistons to scuff. Check iboats for parts you need if they cant help we can. thanks, bret

If you need further assistance please email me @ forcepower01@yahoo.com.
