Thermostat question

How often should a thermostat be changed(in a small outboard)? when it has issues? With a new impeller?

I tried searching, but couldn't come up with a how often.

Every 2 years seems like to often, I would say every 5 years or now if you don't know when it was changed last, they really don't go bad that often but it is easier to change than have problems and they are cheap.

Depends on where you run the boat...... some take a beating and need it more often but yes...... 5 years is a good guess.
