Thermostat cover hose 200 Johnson 2000 J200VLSIF

This hose (item 37) on my 200 hp 90degree Johnson is cracked and leaking water. Can I just replace it with a fuel line? Vacuum line? Does it matter much what I use?

it is just water so fuel line should be fine. just find what fits and bends with no kinks...jmho

Got it fired up and it’s not leaking. Smoky, but it’s been sitting a while. Still needs fine tuning. Haven’t adjusted idle speed or timing.
