Re: Thermostat 7.5 Rude

Get New T-Stat and install. Just snug the bolts up! Lower unit bolts Torqued to 60-80 "IN/LB, Not FT/LB!

Re: Thermostat 7.5 Rude

Did the engine seize, or burn paint on the block, or anything like that? If not, chances are you don't have a huge problem
BTW, a missing thermostat is not a huge deal. Engine will just run cooler than design, and while it might make it run a bit rough at idle, it won't hurt anything. Removing it is the standard quick fix for a faulty thermostat when a new one is not readily available.

Retorqueing (sp?) the head bolts certainly won't hurt anything. Maybe Rick has the specs, but it is in IN/LBS and not foot/lbs and just be careful not to overtighten them--it is pretty easy to strip the threads in the aluminum block.

John
