thermal melt sticks

i have called every auto parts store and every marine parts store and no one carries these things. i get one of too answeres; HUH whats that??? and WELL i think ive heard of them before but we dont have them. <br /><br />is there another alternative to checking the temp of my motor with out spending alot of money for a temp gun???<br /><br />or will placing your finger for 3 long sec do the job???<br /><br />where can i order some from???<br /><br />thanks for all the help

<br />This is used in my other hobby, RC cars. It provides the same style of measurement as a laser temp gun, but considerably cheaper at only $25.
