A funny thing has happened, a spider has crawled into my Quicksilver (Mercury) tachometer. Anyone know how to take of the glass without damageing it so I can remove the spider?

Is there a hole for the lightbulb? Maybe you can suck it out with a shop vac.

Maybe if you rev it up he will decide not to live in there? :)

It will get really interesting if it's planning on hatching eggs:facepalm:

Good luck to ya!

Isn't it amazing how things get where they do!? Cleaning my car the other day and went to wipe the radio faceplate and the dust didnt move... upon closer inspection the dust is inside the faceplate!?! HOW!? Its a sealed piece of plastic!

Didnt picture ur friend to be alive but he seems to be doing just fine... protected from the elements and large predators. Worst off name him, feed em, and make em part of the fam :D

compressed air may blow it out but generally these gauges are permanently crimped together.

Or, if you get bored, terrorize him by continually smacking at him from the outside and watch him run around until he passes out.

What a "tachy" place to live, lol. Cant see the lil sucker having much in the way of food in there. I vote with the fellas on the shop vac, less you want dead arachnid to become the new 0 RPM measure.

From what I've read on the same thread on THT, he's dead. So much for the family aspect...

Agreed on removing the backlighting, and sucking with a good shop vac. Compressed air will probably just distribute the remains to different locations within the tach...which, I suppose, as long as they're not staring the OP in the face anymore, would be OK...

Reminds me ...

Q) Why did the spider cross the road?

A) To get to his web site.
