If you get a job and 90% goes good with 10% bad its a win, if You get a job that goes 10%good and 90% bad its a loss. And any job that goes into a percentage between those two is a loss as well.
I do not think I have ever completed a job without some hair pulling, so no 100% satisfaction in a job, but most go good and those that go below the 90% satisfaction rate is because I missed something on the bid or I did not check my own work or my guys work before I signed off on a project,

Just saying.---------------,I think about the little thing way to much.

When I win a Bid for my company, the first thing i think of is Holy Crap, What did I miss? the next thing i wonder about is If I can bring it in under budget and on time. I strive for 100%, I am happy at 90%.

That last 10% or so gets tougher and tougher, and even if you get to that last 5% mark the law of diminishing returns takes over.

Have you been drinking again RBH?

AHHH, NO!
But I have been bidding jobs and trying to hire the right people to fill those positions and ALL I can find is burger flippers (25 years or less) with no practical skills except screwing about on a puter.
So, the origanal post was a mini rant on how sucsessful things go around here, IF I do not keep it together.

Please send trained people, so I do not have to wear 14 different hats every day.

Cheif cook and bottle washer book keeper, sales man estimator training staff safety staff HR logistics warehouseman mechanic head of fleet driver lineman splicer ETC (now I have a head ache)

I have a passport and my own tools.....

And most of all, I have common sense!

Its the common sense we are looking for (plus a valid air brake ticket) and then there is the work visa, and I have never even tried to get one for an emplooyee.

If you have a native north american status card, no problem as there is no border really- your migrating to new hunting grounds..

The biggest issue I have is with finding the right qualified people that is "willing" to put forth a 90% effort. Heck...I would be happy with a 75% effort Everyday not just a few days a week. I am a general manager for a home remodeling company. I estimate, make work schedules, order and deliver materials when needed and I cover a large area. Most of our guys are hourly and I wish that I could put them on a per job basis. I know that the profit margin is not what it should be and I try every week to improve on it...but when I can not be on every job everyday I do what I can. However...the owner of the company told me not to worry about it...everything looks good to him... while at the same time I see wasted money when guys give 75% or less :faint2:

MTboatguy...if you live in Montana and have free time...why aren`t you looking for that chest of gold hidden about 5 years ago...? :)

I am just looking for something to do, but around here, if you are over 30 years old, they won't even talk to you, retirement is not all it is cracked up to be!

And if you're 60+ with a disability forget even the part time jobs!
