I started my engine and my hose was connected to the motor flush, but after a few mins, the hose connecter on the flush just fell out! I don't know how long this lasted for.How do I make sure no damaged was caused? What tests can I perform?
I bought this boat last week, What other tests should I do and what things are a MUST DO, before I can rest and feel confortable in the water.
Well I ran it today in my driveway for over an hour. The temp went to about 185. So I am starting to get worried, but could this be because I am running it for such a long time under the hose? Will I get cooler readings when completely in the water? I also noticed that when I reved the engine, my temp gauge dropped to under 172.
Is this normal? I want to take it in the water to test more, but I am afraid to make things worse and create more damage!
Is the impellar burnt and need to be changed?
Its a 1988 Mercruiser 350 with an Alpha One
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Howdy there MCU sounds like your motor has a 180 thermostat and got a little warm sitting running, it will cool down when you rev it cause your pulling more water in and it cools down the hot water. so I say put it in the water run it for a while watch the temp and if it stays steady at 1 temp, then take her out for a good run and keep your eye on the temp gage. and you will find that it will level out. hope this helps you Barry..

Any dry run situation MANDATES that you change or at least inspect your water pump .180 is high end of normal and you are force feeding it off the hose .My advice is change the water pump.
